Frequently asked questions
I have recently begun breastfeeding but my baby won`t latch on properly. What am I doing wrong?
Breastfeeding gives your baby the best possible start in life.
If you are having problems getting started, follow these simple steps:
turn your baby towards your tummy and position their nose opposite your nipple
allow your baby`s head to tilt back
move their mouth gently across your nipple until their mouth opens really wide
bring your baby towards your breast quickly so their bottom lip and chin touch your skin
your baby should be able to breathe easily while feeding.
If you continue to have problems breastfeeding, ask your midwife to observe you and provide help if needed.
