Frequently asked questions
I am due to give birth soon and I am starting to experience backache and pains. What should I do?
You may be having Braxton Hicks contractions or you may be about to go into labour.
If your pains become regular and last for more than 30 seconds at a time, you should contact your midwife or maternity unit for help and advice.
If you experience bleeding or think that your waters have broken, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible.
