Dental health promotion

Dental health promotion is a key part of the work of the Community Dental Service.

Our team works with other healthcare professionals to deliver a range of initiatives. They include:

fluoride schemes for nursery schools
participation at health visitor and mother and baby clinics
school-based dental health programmes
healthy school break schemes
toothbrushing plans for children and adults with special needs.

Dental health screening

We also offer dental screening and surveys. These include:

detecting unmet treatment needs
arranging dental inspections for primary school children, when requested by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety
screening for older people and those with special needs.
